This rather odd looking Solar Light USB from Sanyo features a large solar panel to charge a fairly chunky battery. The battery takes around 15-30 daylight hours to fully charge up, giving 9 to 50 hours of light depending on which lights are used. (more…)

A Bose press release has detailed the design of a new energy-efficient Bose sound system, designed specifically for eco-friendly cars. The new Bose system is 30% smaller, 40% lighter, and uses 50% less energy compared to conventional Bose sound systems, without sacrificing quality. (more…)

Orion Energy Systems, Inc have developed an energy efficient lighting system designed for parking lots and car parks. The lighting increases light output compared to legacy high-intensity discharge lights, yet decreasing energy consumption by 50%! The fluorescent lighting fixtures have been designed to fit on existing lighting poles, and just need adjustment to get the angle to match the desired lighting pattern. (more…)

The Western Digital My Book Studio Edition II is a new energy-saving RAID hard drive, specifically targeted at the Mac and the Windows market. It features a FireWire 800 and eSATA port for fast data access, such as for video, animation and audio applications. The drive unit is designed to use Western Digital’s GreenPower drives, which use 30% less energy than conventional 3.5″ hard drives. (more…)

The Mini Hydro Clock is a small clock (about 2.5cm by 5cm) which simply displays the time. No alarm function, no date or calendar information. Just the time.
However, what is interesting is that you can power it with any fluid you like, including water, juice, milk and beer. I imagine that the smell from the milk when it goes off will be pretty nasty though! Considering you can use almost any water-based solution to power the clock without batteries…. you could use urine too!

There are plenty of hand-powered and solar powered chargers out there, so what’s new about this one? The USB Wind Up Eco Charger doesn’t have an internal battery like other chargers. Instead, it has a USB socket that can be used to directly charge any gadgets that are charged via a USB cable. (more…)
