Finding eco toys for kids these days seems to be getting easier and easier. The Bottle Catamaran kit is basically a collection of bits that allows you to create a Catamaran using 500ml or 1 litre drinks bottles for buoyancy. So essentially you’re encouraging kids to recycle drinks bottles and turn it into a toy. (more…)

I recently wrote about the PLX Kiwi MPG, which is essentially the baby brother of the PLX Kiwi. The PLX Kiwi is an eco gadget for your car that helps you learn what driving behaviour gives you the optimum driving efficiency. If you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere, then you probably don’t have access to a power outlet. However, if you can’t live without a radio or flashlight, then the Self-Powered Emergency Radio with Flashlight might appeal to you. Eco-friendly furniture is definitely a growth area, and something I’m sure we’ll be seeing much more of. These paper and wood stools have been made by layering wood veneers with alternating coloured papers. The resulting effect is a colourful cross-section in the stool’s wood. (more…)

The Solar Powered Glowing Plant Pot is an attractive alternative to the boring old flower pots you might have around the home. Using a solar panel, the plant pot charges up during the day and gently glows during the night. With the focus on being green, there are plenty of eco-friendly gadgets that are hitting the market. However, some companies seem to be creating really bizarre gadgets in the name of being green, but serve very little real purpose.
