The Eco Mouse features an eco button that will put your computer into standby mode when you press it. The button puts a computer into a special eco-mode, which is a state where your PC uses the least possible energy whilst still being switched on. The idea is that when you’re leaving the computer idle and switched on for a period of time, you put it into eco mode. When you need the computer, you press the button again to wake the computer up. We seem to take batteries for granted these days, barely giving them a second thought. Most gadgets need batteries in one form or another, and most batteries are not great for the environment. Rechargeable batteries reduce the number of one-use batteries that we use, but rechargeable batteries still use harmful materials.

The Neuton CE 6 Mower is a rechargeable battery-powered lawn mower for the garden. Rather than using a petroleum-based fuel, the mower just uses batteries. A single charge of the 360kWh battery is enough to mow up to 15,000 sq. ft. or 1/3 acre of grass. (more…)

The Eco-Friendly Pocket Shower is ideal if you’re out and about, but likely to need a shower in the middle of nowhere. The shower zips into a 45mm x 80mm x 140mm pouch and weighs just 120g, but when unfolded, it can hold up to 10 litres of water. I do love these odd eco gadgets. Well, perhaps love to hate. This solar-powered turntable will rotate up to 200g of junk using nothing but the sun’s energy. 200g is very little weight, so you couldn’t use it for a plant or anything. (more…)

Recently, the NoPoPo Batteries where released. The NoPoPo batteries use urine to provide battery power. The battery is made from carbon and magnesium, and uses urine (as well as other liquids like beer, sake and cola) as an electrolyte to generate an electrical current. Well now the Japan Trend Shop is offering a NoPoPo Urine Powered Torch and Lantern gadget. The torch uses a bright white LED which can be used in lantern or flashlight mode. (more…)
