The Solar-Powered Garden Insect Theatre combines a solar-powered light with a sustainable insect habitat to attract insects into your garden and the insect theatre itself. During the day, the solar panel charges up the internal battery. At night, the theatre lights up, attracting a range of insects such as moths, lacewings and butterflies. When dawn comes along, the internal light automatically switches off, and the batteries are charged up again. (more…)

Industrial Designer Damjan Stanković has designed a simple, but very practical system for helping drivers to save fuel and drive a little more efficiently. The idea is a countdown timer that encircles a standard red stop-light. The idea means that drivers can tell how long it will be before the red light changes to amber and then green. (more…)

The Oregon Scientific RMR802 Solar-Powered Thermometer is an ultra-thin and attractive temperature station that displays both indoor and outdoor temperature, in addition to maintaining accurate time via the radio-controlled clock display. As fruit and vegetables ripen, they release a gas called ethylene. In a self-perpetutating cycle, ethylene gas accelerates the ripening, and eventually the rotting of fruit and vegetables. Therefore if you don’t want your fruit and vegetables to ripen quickly, you need to control the release of the ethylene gas. The amusingly named Ethylene Gas Guardian (The Egg) is a small gadget that will absorb ethylene from fruit and veg, to reduce the rate at which they ripen. (more…)
