The Shweeb - A Pedal-Powered Monorail Pods

The Shweeb is a new attraction in the Agroventures Adventure Park in Rotorua, New Zealand where you cycle around a mono-rail system within a specially designed pod. There are 2 tracks, each running for 200 metres. Using nothing but leg power, you use less than half the energy compared to cycling to whiz around the track at speeds of up to 50kph!

The tracks are designed such that you can race a partner, or team up for a two-against-two race. On some bends, due to centrifugal force, you can swing out by 60 degrees. The ride is available for $45 per adult rider, where you get a total of 3 laps around the circuit. The pods are said to be as comfortable as a hammock, completely waterproof and great fun!

Initially designed as a new concept for eco-friendly transportation, it’s a great way to test-drive the technology by having it as an attraction at an adventure park. Although the system lacks scalability due to the rail system, it could be practical within specific niche areas, such as large business parks or within cities.
