The Wattson SilverLining is a device that allows you to quickly and clearly monitor your home energy usage at a glance. The display unit for the device has been designed to have a modern appeal, the color the unit glows changes depending on your energy use to alert you to high usage immediately.

The Wattson SilverLining Home Energy Meter has been designed by DIY Kyoto to provide an aesthetically pleasing monitor that displays the information both in number form and through the color of its glow. The device has two main parts, the wireless sensor requires clipping to the electric meter that you wish to monitor, the clip is easily fitted and requires no electrician to fit. The sensor clip is powered by 4 AA batteries that are supplied. The data from the sensor is transmitted wirelessly to the monitor device. The monitor has a backup power supply but does require being plugged into main power and it draws up to 7 watts while in use.

The monitor device has been designed to fit into any household and has an appealing modern look to it. The device can display digitally on its LED display either the current consumption of power in watts, the projected annual cost of the power used (in £ or $), or the current time. The device’s lights reveal the electrical usage by the color of their glow, low use provides a blue glow, whereas high use produces a bright warning red shade, the lights also provide shades between these two extremes to show the current levels.

The monitor can store up to 4 weeks worth of data on your household electricity usage. The data can be downloaded onto a computer through a USB port. By purchasing the device you are able to download ‘Holmes’ software that is compatible with both PCs and Macs, this allows you to view the data collected and analyze it at your leisure.
