Energy Efficient Kettle By Philips

By Anita (EnviroGadget Writer) on July 5th, 2010

Philips Energy Efficient 1.7 ltr Kettle

This Energy Efficient Kettle uses both a measuring guide and a flat heating element to help reduce the amount of electricity used by allowing you to boil water by cup amount quickly and efficiently.

The Energy Efficient Kettle is thought to save around 66% of the electricity usually used to boil a kettle. It achieves this due to its measuring guide and its heating element. The measuring guide indicates how much water is in the kettle in cups, allowing you to fill the kettle exactly to the amount of cups you require. This prevents you from boiling water you do not require. Boiling excess water each time you use your kettle adds up to a significant amount of electricity, so its important to only boil what you need. The kettle can hold up to 1.7 liters of water at a time.

The kettle features a flat heating element. This allows it to heat the water quickly, using less energy. The flat element also allows the kettle to be cleaned easily, helping the kettle to stay clean and working effectively. This wireless kettle has a light on its on switch to indicate when the kettle is on, the light goes out when the kettle has boiled.

The Energy Efficient Kettle is available for £25.99 plus delivery.

Ok, MAYBE the flat element is new but measuring scales have been built into jugs for years and “on” lights have been around for even longer.

Reading the article makes me wonder why it qualifies as eco friendly.

We have the duty to report on all eco-friendly gadgets… most gadgets are only marginally eco-friendly though.
