The Upside Down Tomato Garden

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on September 7th, 2009

Upside Down Tomato Garden Eco Gadget

The Upside Down Tomato Garden allows you to grow your tomato plants downwards away from soil, allowing the tomatoes to ripen in the air rather than rotting in the soil. The planter is pretty compact too, needing only 25 inches by 25 inches of floor space. As long as you have plenty of sunlight, the planter can go anywhere, including patios and balconies.

The planter is made from robust PVC, and the base can be filled with sand to keep the planter stable and upright. The planter tray can hold up to 80lbs (around 40kg) of soil, which is plenty of soil for a large number of plants. With the tomatoes at the base of the planter, you can also plant herbs on top of the planter. This makes the most of the space the planter gives you. In total, the planter measures 48″ in height by 25″ square on the base.

The Upside Down Tomato Garden is available for just $79.95 from Hammacher Schlemmer.
