Energy Curtain – Providing Shade and Light
The Energy Curtain is a novel and attractive alternative for a window blind. Using special solar-energy collecting cells on the outer side of the blind, the blind stores up energy during the day. Then at night, you can have the blinds glowing to provide you with free lighting. However, the blinds do need to be down during the day time in order to charge up.
With so many solar products, often the product looks pretty basic or flimsy. This is one of a few products that I’ve seen that actually looks great and has a functional aspect. Unfortnately, the energy curtains are not available to buy at the time of writing.
The curtains were designed by Anders Ernevi, Margot Jacobs, Ramia Mazé, Carolin Müller, Johan Redström and Linda Worbin for the Interactive Institute.

Do you know when these are likely to be available for purchase and the approximate cost for an average 3×5 window will be?
I merely reported on the design concept. You’ll have to contact the designers directly if the product will ever be made available.

Hi,
Wanted to know once charged fully for how many hours the curtains can glow and is there an option to switch off the lights from the curtains if not wanted.
Since its only a prototype, there’s a lack of technical details.
