Netgear Introduces Green Broadband Routers

Netgear is following D-link’s footsteps by releasing some eco-friendly gadgets, in this case networking routers. The WNR2000 Wireless Router and DGN2000 Wireless Router with built-in modem now feature convenient wireless on/off switches and EnergyStar rated power supplies to reduce energy costs. Additionally, the packaging is made from at least 80% recycled materials making it a particularly green gadget. (more…)

Eco Stapler – No More Staples

According to WasteOnline, “If everyone in UK offices saved just one staple a day, we’d save 72 tonnes of metal a year”. Now that doesn’t even factor in the processing and shipping costs of staples. This nifty little green gadget, Eco Stapler, will fix together up to 3 sheets of paper without a single bit of metal. (more…)

Chrysler’s GreenEcoMobility Electric Car

Chrysler has announced a new green transportation vehicle that is eco friendly, being emission free, using electric power rather than petroleum derivatives. The car features iPod and iPhone integration, where the latter doubles as a mobile phone hands free feature too. The Peapod is small, yet available in 2-seater, 4-seater and 6-seater models. (more…)

USB Drive made from Newpaper and Wood Chips

In August I reported on the eco gadget, recycled plastic and recyclable EarthDrive, and this is another green gadget, Swedish USB Drive product that seems to be made of the same paper and wood chipboard that all Ikea furniture is made from! The recycled paper drive looks very plain and is otherwise the same as any other USB drive in terms of specification. (more…)

Fit-PC Slim – Tiny WiFi enabled Computer

Yet another eco friendly technology has hit the market, a low-powered PC called the Fit-PC Slim. Not a great name I admit, but clearly they want to emphasise their brand name in the product title. This PC is only 110 x 100 x 30mm in size, with many features you’d expect from a desktop PC. Oh, and it only uses 4 to 6 Watts of power! (more…)

Hand-Powered Mini Dynamo Massager Torch

Hand-powered torches have been around for ages. Essentially you repeatedly squeeze a lever that converts the linear motion into a rotational motion that drives a dynamo. The dynamo then charges an internal battery that allows the low-powered light (often LED-based) to light up for a few minutes or hours. A Belgian company called United Pepper has released a couple of cute yet eco-friendly gadgets for the computer, namely the Lili Webcam and the Oscar USB Hub. United Pepper are delivering quality products using strong ethical and environmental principles. For example, the webcam and usb hub are made in Vietnam in safe working conditions at a fair wage using adult labour. The product itself is stuffed using naturally occuring Kapok tree fibre rather than petroleum-based polyurethane foam. (more…)
