Keep Cool with a Solar Fan for Baseball Caps
Posted August 22nd, 2008 by Dan (EnviroGadget Writer)

Every so often, someone goes a little mad with the green gadgets and makes something that’s just plain silly. The solar cap fan with a clip is designed to keep you cool by clipping onto a baseball cap and blowing air into your face. However, you will look odd, and no doubt you’ll get some very confused glances and laughs.
It’s a small fan (7.3cm in diameter), and probably quite effective. However, I’m sure that there’s a high chance it’d get knocked off or blown off; that’s assuming it doesn’t obscure your vision!

Is it really a green envirogadget if it is just something gimmicky and junky? Surely a large part of the environmental issues we face have to do with an excess of consumption and products like this are just adding to the problem . . .?
Definitely, then there’s the excess of production and waste. This is a great example of gadgets for the sake of gadgets.
Hi Dan,
This has got the be the funniest green gadget I’ve seen. Who do they think would seriously wear one of these? When the designers are planning these products, don’t they have someone to reign them in? Surely “green” companies who develop products like this shouldn’t be seen as green companies at all. Entertaining, but not green!
