The boat builder specialists have used their marine expertise to develop the PowerCube. Working with a company called Reluminati, PowerCube has been designed as a solution for off-grid energy supply. Whilst the sun is shining, the PowerCube can supply 600 watts of power. As you can see from the photo above, the PowerCube is a beast, but is perfectly suited to military, marine, island camps, construction sites, cell phone towers, and emergency situations.

The PowerCube can also be used in combination with a conventional mains power supply. The unit can charge up when a grid supply is available, and kick in if there’s a power outage. In remote country, this would be a blessing where blackouts are common. The unit can also integrate standard and wind generators along with its builtin solar panels, massively reducing the expertise needed to operate it as a generator.

It does look a little bit like an all-in-one printer, however, it’s a little bigger and a little more expensive. Priced at $27,000 for a small one and $37,000 for the larger version, it’s a hefty investment. As popularity for the generator increases, the cost of manufacture is tipped to decrease with the economies of scale.
