Solar Pool Cleaner – Solar Breeze Skimmer

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on June 25th, 2008

Solar Pool Skimmer

Having a swimming pool in the backyard might be a dream for many, but the cost of keeping a pool is surprisingly expensive, particularly when it comes to cleaning costs. Light debris such as dust, bugs, pollen and light leaf litter end up floating on the surface of the pool. Over time, this lightweight dirt sinks, causing the bottom of the pool to feel slimey. The Solar Breeze is a simple cleaning device that floats on the surface of the pool removing the light debris before it sinks.

The Solar Breeze is solar-powered and so doesn’t cost you money to run apart from the initial outlay of around $450. You can also have this useful eco gadget dispense chemicals into the pool to save running your pool’s pump all day, saving you money on your energy bills.

Even if the Solar Breeze gets some large debris stuck in it’s cleaning paddles, it’s designed to try and clean itself. Failing that, if the jam doesn’t clear in 10 minutes, it shuts off to allow you to clear the obstruction.

That seems a bit expensive considering that a robotic pool vacuum that runs on the existing filtration system is less than $200.

Great idea but the cost is way too high. Get the cost down to a more reasonable level and this will be a big hit for pool owners.
