Macally has launched some sustainable bamboo cooling stands for laptops. The stands are designed to go onto your desk, with the laptop on top of the stand. The stand includes two USB-powered 2.5″ (5cm) fans to help dissipate heat away from your laptop. There are two models, the EcoFan (fixed height) and EcoFanPro (adjustable height). (more…)

The Bamboo Briefcase is an attractive alternative to the boring leather or plastic attaché briefcase. Using a type of bamboo called Moso bamboo, which is sustainably grown in the highlands of central China, the bamboo briefcase is inherently stronger than steel. Most of the eco toys that I’ve reviewed probably have more appeal to the boys than the girls, simply because boys prefer gadgets a bit more than girls do. However, here’s a toy aimed a little more towards girls, namely a Solar-Powered Bamboo Doll House. The doll house is made from sustainable fast-growing bamboo, which has been treated with a light water-based stain and then polished with natural beeswax. (more…)

A company called fabrik has announced the release of an energy efficient green gadget, an external hard drive utilising a low power hard disk and a case made from recycled materials. The drive has no noisy fans (which also cuts down on power consumption), and the case is made using recycled aluminium to efficiently dissipate the heat. The case also features some fancy sustainable bamboo trim to give the drive a natural and organic look. (more…)
