The Oxygen Bar N368 is an air purifier designed for use in a car to help keep your car free from built up smells and germs. The purifier uses a solar panel to provide the electricity, helping to ensure it will work when needed most without draining any battery power.

The Oxygen Bar N368 uses a number of systems to help purify the air within your car. The purifier helps ‘clean’ the air of  bad smells, smoke and even any virus or bacteria. The purifier uses a HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Air filter), space capsule plasma purification technology and nanometer light-accelerant air purification to scrub the air of the smells, smoke and germs.

The N368 uses solar power to provide the electricity to operate, though does include the cables to allow you to power it through the car cigarette lighter point. The unit will require placement in a sunny spot, this may mean locating it in different places depending on where you have parked. The purifier helps to provide you with fresh smelling air and to help reduce the build up of harmful virus and bacteria in the air of your car while freeing you from concerns over draining the battery.

Sanyo have brought out a new system called the Sanyo Air Washer Plus which uses electrolyzed water and a HEPA filter to clean the air of various particles and gasses. The system is designed for home use and is called Air Washer Plus.

By using both a HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Air filter) and their new electrolyzed water technology to purify the air, Sanyo believe that the Air Washer Plus will remove 99.97% of airborne particles and allergens and will also remove odors from the air.

The HEPA filter is basically a mat of minuscule fibers which filter out the majority of particles in the air. It does this by having the small fibers randomly arranged, the air flow then helps to move the particles to stick to these fibers on their way through the filter. HEPA filters are used in many airplanes to filter the air and even in clean rooms, such as those in critical wards of hospitals.

By combining tap water with electricity the Air Washer Plus creates electrolyzed water, this electrolyzed water produces two types of active oxygen that are thought to clean the air, removing odors, bacteria, and such like from the air.

The Air Washer Plus then cleans the air without the need for any chemicals due to its combination of electrolyzed water technology and HEPA filters. The system also uses a 3 directional air system, it basically outputs air straight up, to the left and to the right. This is thought to aid air circulation within a room, making sure all the air of the room goes through the system. The system can be moved to other rooms around the house, allowing your whole home to have its air cleaned.

Due to using a HEPA filter the Air Washer Plus will require this filter to be changed at times. It has a filter indicator to let you know when this needs to be done.

The AirFree E60 Air Purifier and Sterilizer is a clever gadget that uses a high temperature ceramic core (heated to 250 degrees Celsius) to incinerate mould, bacteria, tobacco, ozone, viruses, odours, dust mites, pollens and pet dander from the air. Independent laboratory tests have shown that the AirFree E60 can destroy up to 99.9% of all micro-organisms in the air.

The AirFree E60 has no need for expensive high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters or UV light bulbs, which reduces the operating costs significantly, as well as reducing the waste produced as a result of using an air purifier. Since the purifier doesn’t actually filter the air, there are no filters to change at all.

The AirFree draws in air, and incinerates all the particles that enter into the unit. Additionally, any ozone in the air is reduced into standard oxygen gas. This is particularly helpful as ozone has been shown to trigger problems for asthma sufferers.

The AirFree E60 is powerful enough to sterilise a room of up to 300 square feet. However, it’s a very portable unit, measuring just 8.4 inches (21.5cm) in diameter by 10.4 inches (25.5cm) in height. The E60 weighs 2.4lbs, which is just over 1kg. The E60 unit consumes around 50 Watts of electricity, so you do want to only have it switched on when you’re in the room to keep energy consumption as low as possible.

The Bel Air Purification System is a mini greenhouse where pollutants in the air are filtered out. The plants in the glass jar will metabolise and absorb many airborne toxins, passing them through a 3-stage filter, namely through the plant leaves, its roots, and a humid bath.

The basis of the project was on NASA’s research into air-purifying systems, particularly the efficiency of plants at absorbing and eliminating pollutants in aircraft. The Bel Air unit is designed for domestic use, exploiting the the most effective purification plants identified by NASA’s research.

Unfortunately, the unit does consume some energy from the mains to pump air through the plant filter. However, you could probably set up a solar panel rig to specifically power this unit without too much hassle.
