The CompoSphere is a composting tumbler system which can be rolled around to aerate the  composting materials within to help it to decompose quicker into compost. This ability to roll it around also means it can be easily moved to where it is needed for you to place cuttings and such like within it.

The CompoSphere takes a lot of the hard work out of home composting. Home Composting is a great way to cut the amount of rubbish being sent to landfill, while making a useful product to be used on your garden to help it flourish. This is great for those wanting to be a little more eco-friendly by growing their own fresh produce or for those who just enjoy gardening.

Waste items like grass cuttings, branch cuttings, peelings and other organic matter make great components for compost. As these things decompose the bacteria helping it to break down requires oxygen to work effectively. To help it work and so turn into usable compost quicker it is best to aerate the material, this can be hard work turning over a compost pile, or rotating a composting tub. The CompoSphere takes the hard work out of this as it is designed to be easily rolled around to aerate its contents. The sphere has a flat bottom to prevent it from rolling away accidentally and in this bottom there are drainage holes to allow any fluids produced while composting to flow out. Because of this it is a good idea to place something absorbent underneath the sphere to soak this up.

The CompoSphere is also useful due to its ability to be rolled as it can be easily moved to where it is required. Instead of collecting branches, leaves or grass cuttings into a wheelbarrow to take to the compost area, you can move it to them. This way you aerate the materials while simply using the item. The CompoSphere can hold 315lt of material, and has grips and tread to help it to be easily maneuvered around even when full. It measures 76 cm x 61 cm x 43 cm (29.9in x 24 in x 16.9 in). The CompoSphere is made out of recycled, UV protected plastic, which adds to its eco-friendly credentials.

The Rapid No-Turn Composter is a specially designed and patented composter that rapidly increases the rate at which compost breaks down without having to manually mix the compost yourself. The composter takes just 12 weeks to achieve mature compost, compared to 6 months for other types of composter.

After about a month, partially composted waste is moved from the top chamber down to the middle chamber of the composter, simply by removing a panel. As the material continues to break down, the mature compost falls to the bottom chamber. The mature compost is accessible by simply removing the bottom panel. The bottom chamber has a number of aeration holes to ensure the bacteria get enough oxygen to properly decompose the food matter without nasty odours.

The composter itself is made from a black plastic (polypropylene) that absorbs energy from the sun to increase the rate of breakdown. The plastic itself is partially sourced from recycled plastics. I’m not sure why it’s not 100% from recycled plastic, seems a shame really. Anyway, it costs an eye-watering $300 dollars, so probably out of the price-range for most people.
