We have so many electronic gadgets these days, but truly portable solar charger system are not particularly common yet. However, the GoBe solar charger kit supports a range of devices, and comes with a handy briefcase for the solar panels, and a portable solar pack for the battery and charger electronics. The solar panel is rated at 10.5 Watts, and the power pack is fitted with DC, AC and USB power outlets.

The GoBe PowerHub can give you 3-6 hours of extra life from your laptop battery, which is impressive as most other solar chargers cannot handle the power demands of a laptop. The powerpack can also run a portable DVD player for 7-14 hrs, a 60 Watt fluorescent bulb for about 10 hours, as well as charging all of your iPods, mobile phones, and other portable gadgets.

The solar panel suitcase can fully charge the powerpack in 10 hours, or you can use mains power to charge the powerpack in just 1 hour. The powerpack weighs around 4.3kg, and the suitcase weights around 6kg. The GoBe Power Hub will last around 500-1000 charges.

The GoBe powerpack and suitcase are available for around $350 directly from GoBe.

Konarka Technologies have announced their Roll-up Solar Charger that uses ultra-thin solar panels to harness the sun’s energy. Although the product is still in development, there will be two variations of the charger. The first version will be a direct charger that charges up devices like mobile phones and MP3 players. The second version will contain an internal battery which is charged up via the rolled up solar panel. Then battery is then used to charge devices.

Although there are plenty of solar chargers on the market, this green gadget will be a lot more practical by having a significantly larger surface area compared to other solar chargers. No cost information has been released yet, but as long as it’s priced less than $70, it will probably sell really well.

The Battery Wizard is actually a gadget I had heard of ages ago, but I hadn’t been able to find one recently… until now! The Battery Wizard will recharge both rechargeable and conventional non-rechargeable batteries.

The charger is capable of charging conventional non-rechargeable batteries up to 10 times. Admittedly, the batteries will not be as well charged as they were when brand new. The Battery Wizard uses a patented pulsing system that charges the batteries. But if you have a set of faulty batteries, the charger will reject them.

The Battery Wizard is capable of recharging almost every size of battery, including AA, AAA, C, D, PP3 (9v) and N. The charger is compatible with batteries that have alkaline, rechargeable Ni-Cad, NiMH, high power and zinc carbon type chemistry. This charger gadget will help you get a little more usage out of your batteries before they go to your battery recycling plant.

A company by the name of GreenCore Air has released a new eco gadget, a Solar Powered Air Conditoner that is powered by it’s 170Watt solar panel. The solar panel charges it’s internal battery supply when left in sunlight. The result is a popular product that doesn’t rack up expensive energy bills!

The GreenCore 10200 has complete climate controls, allowing you to warm or cool a room. The GreenCore 10200 can cool a 600 square foot room, which is pretty impressive for a small unit. The batteries can also be topped up via AC power at night rates (cheaper than day rates), which is a great help if the sun’s rays are not enough to charge the batteries.

However, the unit appears to be pretty large. I’m sure that GreenCore Air are working on a product for permanent residential and commercial premises where the solar panels are fixed on the roof. A great move forward, as air conditions cost a fortune to operate!
