Biodegradable and Flushable Doggy Poop Bags

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on November 4th, 2008

It’s all fair and well to pick up the poop when your dog decides to relieve themselves in the park, however, have you given much thought to how you can dispose of the waste? Most people use a normal plastic bag to pick up the mess, and then throw it out in the trash. That’s all well and good, but since trash is so tightly packed in landfill sites, waste cannot break down or biodegrade. Potentially, that waste could be sitting around on a landfill site for hundreds of years!

The Doggy Poop bags are designed to be flushable down your toilet, and then biodegrade naturally when the waste water from your home is processed. (more…)

Environmentally Conscious Pest Control Service

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on October 25th, 2008

Nobody likes having creepy crawlies in their home. There’s nothing nice about sharing your home with wasps, rats, roaches or any other pest. Unfortunately, usually the most effective way to control an infestation in your home is to kill the pest. Insects don’t exactly lend themselves very well to being trapped and released. Some of the chemicals used to kill pests are pretty nasty, so it’s nice seeing a company taking a green approach to pest control. (more…)

Solar-Powered LED Shed Light

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on September 3rd, 2008

Sheds are usually awkward things, as they’re often dark, damp and a fair distance from the house (if you’re lucky enough to have a large garden). So if you want a light for your shed, getting electricity from the house is a lot of hassle and expensive. Using a solar-powered shed light means that you don’t need to worry about that. The solar power charges a NiMH battery in 8 hours, and gives you up to 3 hours of bright light in the shed.  A great eco friendly gadget, that’s useful too. (more…)

Solar-powered Fairy Lights

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on July 25th, 2008

Solar power can be used for the essential things in life, such as replacing your primary electricity source. However, due to the small amounts of energy generated by solar cells, it makes sense to use them for the more novelty eco gadgets, such as these Solar Fairy Lights. On a 5 hour charge, these fairly lights can twinkle away for up to 8 hours on one of six different flash patterns. (more…)

Solar-Powered Japanese Shoji Lanterns

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on July 21st, 2008

Solar garden lights are far from new, but many garden lights suffer from being very poor in terms of light output. They serve no real practical use, and if you put them along a garden path, your path looks like a pathetic airport runway! So if you are going for the decorative look, how about some Japanese-style solar lanterns to add some artistic flair to your garden. (more…)
