D-Link Green Energy Saving Network Switch

D-Link Green Network Switch

The D-Link Green DGS-2208 Network Switch is a 8 port gigabit network switch that saves energy compared to other network switches. The switch automatically detects which network ports are connected to an active system (e.g. a computer that’s switched on compared to a computer that’s switched off or in standby), and only provides power to the ports that are active. Additionally the switch can vary the amount of power usage depending on the length of wire between the switch and another device on the network. (more…)

Netgear Introduces Green Broadband Routers

Netgear is following D-link’s footsteps by releasing some eco-friendly gadgets, in this case networking routers. The WNR2000 Wireless Router and DGN2000 Wireless Router with built-in modem now feature convenient wireless on/off switches and EnergyStar rated power supplies to reduce energy costs. Additionally, the packaging is made from at least 80% recycled materials making it a particularly green gadget. (more…)

D-Link Announce Eco-Friendly Wifi Routers

With the majority of western homes having internet access these days, the majority of them will have “always on” broadband modem routers. Since these routers are on all day, every day, they are responsible for a surprising chunk of the energy costs. D-Link has announced that three of it’s new routers employ green ethernet technology that reduces power consumption by up to 40% compared with traditional routers. (more…)
