The Pico by Freeloader is a portable solar powered charger designed to charge mobile phones, iPods, GPS systems, and most other portable electronic devices. Toshiba have launched a limited run of 3000 units of their Methanol Fuel Cell Charger called the Dynario. The charger uses a single 14ml refill of methanol that is able to start charging gadgets within just 20 seconds. A single shot of methanol is able to completely charge two mobile phones. (more…)

It was about a year ago when I reported on the YoGen Max, which is as foot-powered laptop charger. However, Easy Energy are at it again with their YoGen Hand-Powered Gadget Charger. The YoGen charger charges virtually any mobile gadget by using a draw and release mechanism. (more…)

Solar charger gadgets are not exactly breaking news these days, but the Powcell solar charger is a little different in that its a bespoke case for an iPhone. The Powcell charger includes an internal battery which is charged via the solar panel, which is then used to charge the iPhone battery. (more…)

We have so many electronic gadgets these days, but truly portable solar charger system are not particularly common yet. However, the GoBe solar charger kit supports a range of devices, and comes with a handy briefcase for the solar panels, and a portable solar pack for the battery and charger electronics. The Dyson Energy Bracelet is a pretty novel gadget that uses the thermoelectric effect to generate electricity to charge up your cell phone. Due to a difference in temperature between the surface of the skin and the ambient environment, a Peltier element converts that temperature difference into an electrical current, which is stored in a battery on the wrist strap. Konarka Technologies have announced their Roll-up Solar Charger that uses ultra-thin solar panels to harness the sun’s energy. Although the product is still in development, there will be two variations of the charger. The first version will be a direct charger that charges up devices like mobile phones and MP3 players. The second version will contain an internal battery which is charged up via the rolled up solar panel. Then battery is then used to charge devices. (more…)

As part of their phone charger innovation work, Orange has come up with a compact mobile phone charger in the form of a foot pump gadget. Created by GotWind, the foot pump drives an air turbine which then charges your mobile phone. Orange will be showcasing the gadget at Glastonbury 2009, which is being held at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset, from 24th – 28th June. (more…)

With all the solar chargers hitting the market, the powermonkey eXplorer is a very full-featured charger gadget that easily beats the competition when it comes to features. Essentially the charger will charge up every phone, games console, MP3 player, etc that you throw at it. The edge is that it has an LCD display giving you the charging status, and it also acts as a travel charger. (more…)
