Sprint and Samsung have launched a new eco-friendly mobile phone that’s made from eco-friendly bio-plastic materials, of which 80% are recyclable. The Reclaim is a full-featured mobile phone costing less than $50 with a two year contract. The bio-plastic material makes up 40% of the Reclaim’s casing, and is made from corn. (more…)

Fuji have released a new battery product called the Fuji EnviroMax Eco-Respectful Batteries. The batteries have been designed to be equivalent or better in performance compared to conventional batteries, but being 100% eco-friendly. The batteries contain no harmful mercury or cadmium compounds, nor are they packaged in harmful and non-recyclable PVC. Essentially, if they were disposed of in normal waste systems, they wouldn’t harm the environment. (more…)

With how pervasive mobile phones are, it’s about time there was a phone that was completely green. The Motorola MOTO W233 Renew is a phone made from recycled plastic, made from 100% recyclable materials, comes with eco-friendly packaging, RoHS compliant, and comes with a postage-paid envelope so that you can send your old phone back for recycling. External hard drives are really common now, and with eco-friendly hard drives coming on to the market with lower power consumption, it’s great to see an external hard drive with an eco-friendly design. The Simple Drive was designed by Anne Dickhoff in a recent design competition. The Simple Drive is made from recyclable plastic, and is easily disassembled when the hard drive reaches the end of its shelf-life. (more…)

It seems that computer gadgets are a new target for the eco-friendly world, with low power PCs and disk drives using recycled materials. Today we get to see the ATP 8GB EarthDrive made from bio-recycled plastics (not sure what bio-recycled means compared to recycled!) for an attractive $48. The housing of the device is completely recyclable, although this is no good unless you want to throw the drive in the trash! (more…)
