Rotating Solar Powered Display Turntable

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on June 11th, 2009

Solar Powered Turntable

I do love these odd eco gadgets. Well, perhaps love to hate. This solar-powered turntable will rotate up to 200g of junk using nothing but the sun’s energy. 200g is very little weight, so you couldn’t use it for a plant or anything. (more…)

Handy Solar-Powered Keychain Flashlight

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on May 27th, 2009

Miniature Keychain Solar Flashlight

It’s great having a solar powered or hand powered emergency torch, but it’s pointless if you don’t have one with you. The Handy Solar-Powered Keychain Flashlight solves that problem, as you always have an emergency LED torch at hand. Using two very bright LED lights, you get up to 3 hours worth of light on a full charge. (more…)

SolarMature – Solar Powered Reading Lamp

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on May 19th, 2009

SolarMature - Solar Powered Lamp

The SolarMature (odd name!) is a solar-powered desktop or bedside lamp that uses solar panels on the lampshade. The lamp is completely standalone, and doesn’t need to be near a power point. It can be used in the garden or in the home, however, you need to make sure it gets plenty of sun light if used indoors. (more…)

Video on Home Energy Microgeneration

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on May 8th, 2009

I’ve found this short video on micro-generation for the home, which might be useful to those of you who are interested in creating their own mini power station at home. The video features ITV’s Dream Home’s Oliver Heath and Helen Steed, who is the Microgeneration Development Manager at npower.

The video focuses on explaining how easy it is to get started and how npower can help (so there’s a slight slant towards npower here). Oliver and Helen also talk about a new series of video guides on how to install solar panels in your home too!

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on April 30th, 2009

Solar Insect Zappers

The summer season is on the way, and the insects are out. Killing pests is hard work as it’s difficult to kill just a certain type of insects without harming animals and potentially humans. The Solar Insect Zappers are a set of 2 chemical-free solar-powered insect killing lamps. (more…)

By Dan (EnviroGadget Writer) on March 3rd, 2009

Solar Powered Nintendo DS lite Gadget

It appears that the Nintendo DS Lite was made for solar panels, as the Instructables author dark sponge has created a useful solar charger for the DS Lite. The top face has enough space for two 60x60mm solar cells side by side, each outputting 3V at 40mA. (more…)
