The Hercules e Plug 200 Duo is a Home Plug Adapter that allows you to run a wired network over your existing mains cables. I run one of these networks already, and they are very impressive. The Hercules ePlug 200 Duo is a new model that saves up to 50% of the energy compared to conventional Home Plug Adapters.

The adapters have been designed to be very simple to set up. Literally, just plug both adapters in your wall sockets and you’re ready to go. If you want to add further adapters to your network, you just press one of the pairing buttons. Essentially it's a quick way to wire a network without drilling holes or having messy cables everywhere.

The technology itself involves transmitting high-frequency signals over the mains cable without disturbing electrical equipment. Since it uses secure encryption and your existing wiring, it's more secure than using WiFi networking and is much faster too. The Plug is available rated at network speeds of 200MBps and 85MBps.

Available in July 2009, the Plug 200 Duo and e Plug 85 Duo will cost around $149.99 and $99.99.
