The light bulb is an energy-saving bulb that uses only 10w of electricity to produce the equivalent light of a 50-60 w incandescent bulb. The bulb has an ion generator contained within its structure. The negative ions the light produces are thought to be effective in removing things like pollen from the air, along with dust and odors, and so could be beneficial to those who suffer from breathing-related conditions.
